My Story
I guess you could say I have been wearing cardinal and gold most of my life, even before I had a say in the matter. Both of my parents went to Iowa State, so growing up in our house meant football Saturdays, tailgating, and making the trip to Ames at least once a year. Some of my favorite memories are going to games, hearing my parents tell stories about their college days, and visiting family friends on the farm nearby. Iowa State has always felt familiar, like a second home. After getting the full campus tour and hearing even more of their stories, I knew I wanted to follow in their footsteps. This August, in just five and a half months, I’ll be heading to Iowa State as a Cyclone myself. I’m currently undecided but leaning toward Biology or another science related field. I’m excited to explore classes that challenge me and help me figure out exactly where I want to go. I’ll be honest, I’m a little nervous about the size of campus, the classes, and making sure I choose the right path. There’s always that small fear of wondering if you’re making the right choice. But I’m also really excited to meet new people, build new friendships, and experience everything college has to offer, from game days to late night study sessions. In high school, I was on the swim team for five years and was a four-year letter winner. Swimming taught me discipline, leadership, and how to push through tough moments. I was proud to be a vocal leader on the team and to build friendships that I know will last a lifetime. If my friends had to describe me, they’d probably say I’m kind, funny, and energetic. I also work at Rally House, a sports apparel store in Minnesota, and I’m hoping to transfer to the Ames location so I can keep working and, of course, take advantage of that employee discount. Fun fact about me, I’m missing a front tooth, even though I don’t play hockey like my dad did. So not really a cool sports injury story, just a goofy accident. As I prepare for this next chapter, I’m creating this page for family and friends who have asked how they can support me as I get ready for college (as I have selected to not have a formal Grad Party). Contributions will help with tuition, books, housing, and the many expenses that come with starting this new journey. I’ll be working and doing my part as well, but any support truly means more than you know. Thank you for being part of my story and for cheering me on as I take this next step. Go Cyclones!
